310 Organic Shake Review

The new and revised 310 Organic Shake is keto and paleo-friendly, GMO-free, gluten and dairy-free, and is complete with plant-based proteins and prebiotics. What you won’t find is sugar or artificial flavors, or sweeteners. This is a rising star in the weight loss and wellness industry, with thousands of reviews to prove it! The shake offers a blend of superfood greens and a patented blend of fibers to complement its nutritional value, all for under 110 calories per serving! According to the newly revised website, the flavor is velvety and creamy and will remind you of a sweet and creamy vanilla bean ice cream without all the calories. The ingredients are organic, meaning they have been produced without genetically modified food ingredients and omitting artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors that have not been approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Let’s take a look at the ingredients and see what makes this shake work to boost your energy, fuel your muscles, help you lose weight, and improve your wellness.

310 Organic Shake Ingredients in Detail

Tri-Plex Protein Blend ™ (Organic Pea Protein Isolate, Organic Brown Rice Protein Concentrate, Organic Pumpkin Protein),  310 Organic Fiber Superfood Blend (FiberSMART® Organic Soluble Tapioca Fiber, Organic Alfalfa Powder, Organic Apple Powder, Organic Beet Root Powder, Organic Broccoli Powder, Organic Chaga Mushroom Powder, Organic Chlorella Powder, Organic Ginger Root, Organic Spinach Powder, Organic Spirulina Powder, and Organic Tumeric Powder), Organic Coconut Creamer (Organic coconut oil, organic rice syrup solids, organic pea protein, contains 2% or less of each of the following: sodium citrate, tricalcium phosphate, organic sunflower lecithin), Organic Flavors, Non-GMO Ticaloid ® Ultrasmooth Powder (Guar Gum, Gum Acacia, and Xanthan Gum), Himalayan Pink Salt, Stevia, Monk Fruit Extract, Contains Tree nut (Coconut) Produced in a facility that uses milk, soy, peanut, tree nut, wheat, egg, fish, and shellfish ingredients.

There are a few proprietary ingredient blends in the list, and we shall review these in more detail below. Also, note that a disclaimer is included on the ingredient list for those individuals with severe allergies. Despite the product being gluten and dairy-free and listed as vegan, it is manufactured in a plant where cross-contamination with these products may occur. For those with severe sensitivities, this cross-contamination may be enough to trigger a reaction.

The first ingredient in the list is the Tri-plex Protein Blend ™ which contains organic pea protein isolate, a plant protein-rich in all the essential amino acids except for methionine. It is, however, a rich source of the branched-chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine. The branched-chain amino acids are especially suited for muscle regeneration and the prevention of muscle fatigue as well as alleviating muscle soreness

Organic Brown Rice Protein Concentrate

Preliminary studies show that rice protein is as effective at supporting muscle growth after training as whey protein. Since packaging may be in aluminum or metal-lined containers, metal contamination may be an issue as it is with all vegan products because of soil and packaging issues. Look for certificates of analysis from third-party labs for information on how “clean” your product is. Organic doesn’t mean less contamination, either. In fact, organic products were more heavily contaminated with heavy metals than non-organic products in the  Clean Label Study. Furthermore, rice is low in the essential amino acid lysine, so it must be combined with a plant-based vegetable source high in lysine, such as pea protein, to make a complete protein.

Organic Pumpkin Protein

Pumpkin seed protein provides many benefits. It’s high in minerals, such as magnesium, zinc, and iron. It’s loaded with vitamins, such as vitamin B and vitamin K. Pumpkin seed protein has anti-inflammatory properties, which are beneficial for anyone who suffers from conditions that cause swelling, such as arthritis or certain immune disorders. Pumpkin seeds have been shown to have beneficial effects in stabilizing blood glucose levels, blood cholesterol levels and positively impacting the prostate, bladder, depression, learning disabilities, and even parasitic infections. Rich in fiber, it adds an overall complement of amino acids (albeit low in threonine and lysine) and nutrients to the protein blend.

This unique protein blend has all the essential amino acids (including branched-chain amino acids) to support muscle health and improve exercise performance.

310 Organic Fiber Superfood Blend

Superfoods are foods that pack in a high nutrient density with a heavy load of antioxidants. The problem with the superfood blend is that there is not a nutritional analysis associated with the mixture, so an exact determination of the nutrient contributions cannot be made. Studies have shown that superfoods’ flavonoids may help prevent inflammation, coronary heart disease and increase immunities.

FiberSMART® Organic Soluble Tapioca Fiber is a ketogenic friendly sweetener. It is made from non-GMO corn syrup that enzymes have broken down to leave a keto-friendly product. FiberSMART® is a resistant dextrin exhibiting the characteristics of a true soluble tapioca fiber. It exhibits the characteristics of fermentability, increased absorption of minerals, and most importantly, the Food and Drug Association (FDA) recognizes it as an actual soluble fiber, unlike many imposters labeling glucose-increasing starch-sourced syrups as tapioca fiber. As a food additive, it functions as a thickener and stabilizer.

Organic Alfalfa Powder is one of the oldest superfoods in the world. Its name means “father of all foods.” It is high in vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. It is considered a high protein source as well because it contains all of the essential amino acids. Alfalfa works as a detoxifier, infection fighter, and cleanser.

Organic Apple Powder is high in natural antioxidants or polyphenols.

Organic Beet Root Powder is a natural vasodilator.

Organic Broccoli Powder is rich in a glucosinolate called glucoraphanin. While glucoraphanin itself is relatively inactive, an enzyme can convert glucoraphanin into sulforaphane, which has been studied for its potential anti-cancer effects.

Organic Chaga Mushroom Powder has been used as medicine in northern European countries as well as Russia for hundreds of years to treat diabetes and gastrointestinal cancer. They are very high in antioxidants and virtually free of sugar and fat. Some studies have shown it to have antiviral activity. Chaga should not be taken by those individuals with autoimmune or bleeding disorders as it may make them worse.

Organic Chlorella Powder is said to be a true superfood packed with ten times the amount of chlorophyll as alfalfa. It protects the DNA and RNA and promotes cell growth and formation. It supports normal blood sugar and cholesterol levels. It is a complete protein and is high in antioxidants and iron. Chlorella also contains some omega-3 fatty acids. It is said to help bind heavy metals, which can be very beneficial in vegan shakes especially.

Organic Ginger Root is possibly effective for the pain of osteoarthritis and nausea and vomiting. Medications for high blood pressure and diabetes may interact with ginger.

Organic Spinach Powder is a rich source of iron, fiber, and carotenoids. The iron in spinach powder is non-heme iron meaning it is best absorbed if taken with a rich source of vitamin C.

Organic Spirulina Powder is made from algae grown in a lab and contains a high amount of chlorophyll. Considered a superfood, spirulina is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. It is also one of the few plant-based foods that contain vitamin B12. You should not take spirulina if you have seafood, iodine, or shellfish allergy.

Organic Turmeric Powder is a powerful antioxidant that protects your body from free radicals. In the world of medicine, turmeric is an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, liver protectant, lipid-lowering reactive oxygen species scavengers contributing to the health and well-being of its users.

The Organic Coconut Creamer was added to improve texture and taste. Organic Coconut Oil has been used in weight loss, as a digestive aid, and as an anti-infective. Coconut oil can help you stay in ketosis because it’s loaded with Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). It also enhances the flavor. Organic rice syrup solids are essentially glucose and are high glycemic sugars. It is frequently used as a healthy alternative to the sweetener fructose. There is no fructose in rice syrup, so it should not negatively affect metabolic health and the liver as fructose may. Significant problems with arsenic levels have been attributed to rice syrup. There may be better alternatives to this product. Organic pea protein is a vegan protein. Sodium citrate is used as an emulsifier, preservative, and buffer. It is used as an antioxidant and food additive for flavor while enhancing foods’ quality and stability. Tricalcium Phosphate is a source of high calcium. It is used in foods as an anti-caking ingredient. Organic sunflower lecithin is included as an emulsifier.

Organic Flavors are present rather than artificial flavors. This is a positive move for a healthy shake.

Non-GMO Ticaloid ® Ultrasmooth Powder is a patented blend of Guar Gum, a high source of water-soluble fiber which is used for constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, high blood cholesterol, and high blood pressure. It also includes Gum Acacia, a beneficial prebiotic great for gut health and a high soluble fiber source. Lastly, the formula consists of Xanthan Gum, a food additive classified as a soluble fiber and capable of slowing down food transit through the gastrointestinal tract slowing down the absorption of glucose cholesterol.

Himalayan Pink Salt

This salt contains 84 trace elements inherent in the Himalayas’ mines rather than just the sodium chloride present in table salt. Table salt is usually heavily refined and replete with anti-caking ingredients, and Himalayan Pink Salt is said to be more natural. The sodium content of the shake is low overall, so the amount added must be minimal.

Stevia

Stevia comes from a bushy shrub that is used as a natural alternative to a sweetener. It has not been proven to have harmful side effects, such as the other sugar substitutes are guilty of. It does not mess with your blood sugar, and it has not been linked to food sensitivities or cancer. It is a natural sweetening agent. Some clinical studies have shown roles for it as an antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal, and anticarcinogenic.

Monk Fruit Extract

This extract is 150 – 250 times sweeter than sugar. This small green fruit is a member of the gourd family. It contains powerful antioxidants with no bitter aftertaste and no effect on blood sugar.

The overall product is vegan and keto/paleo-friendly with added prebiotics and fiber, superfoods, sources of omega-3 fatty acids, and natural flavorings and sweeteners. What is of concern is there are no added vitamins and minerals in this product. Despite all the nutrients in the superfood blend, the vitamins and minerals are not reflected on the product label, which we will get to next.

310 Shake Nutrition Facts

Let’s take a look at the label and see what the shake contains nutritionally, which is the real bottom line.

We see that a serving size is one scoop, and there are 28 servings in a container.

Each serving has:

Calories: 110 calories per serving. This is undoubtedly a low amount suitable for a weight loss program. The 310 Plan recommends two shakes per day and a meal, and a snack. The total caloric amount for a shake will depend on what you combine with it, and the website has plenty of recipes. You figure that a woman does not want to go under 1200 calories per day for weight loss to avoid losing muscle mass, and a man does not want to go under 1500 calories. The goal is to lose 1-2 lbs. per week for permanent and lasting weight loss. The best way to do this is through a combination of diet and exercise.

Total Fat: The shake comes in low at 2 gm or 2% of the Daily Value (DV) for a person eating 2,000 calories. Saturated fat is 1 gram or 7% of the DV. This is still low despite it being 50% of the fat calories. Trans fat is 0 grams. We know from the ingredient list that it contains a source of omega-3 fatty acids despite its not being labeled.

Cholesterol: 0 grams, that’s Heart Healthy!

Sodium: 355 mg. Anything under 140 mg is considered low sodium. While this may be keto-friendly, remember that those on a keto diet may need more sodium in their diets.

Total Carbohydrates: 7 grams or 3% of the DV. As such, it is considered low carbohydrate and exceptionally high in net carbohydrates because of the presence of most of the carbohydrates as fiber.

Dietary Fiber: is 5 grams or 18% of the DV. The shake contains water-soluble fibers known for their ability to slow down the absorption of sugars and to help with the feelings of fullness and appetite control.

Total Sugars: 0 grams, that’s awesome!

Protein: 15 grams per serving. Protein requirements are .8 grams per kg body weight or about 55 grams for a 150 lb. person. We look for a meal replacement shake to have 15-25 grams of protein per serving. Protein is an essential part of the meal providing necessary amino acids for muscle growth and repair, aiding in satiety signals to the brain. Vegans, in particular, tend to eliminate most sources of protein from their diet like milk, meat, cheese, eggs and have a difficult time meeting their protein needs. This shake provides the perfect boost to a vegan protein intake.

Vitamins and Minerals: The label only lists two nutrients: calcium at 4% and iron at 28%. We look for 33% of the essential DV for ten nutrients to qualify as a meal replacement shake. It might be noted that if you want to have a complete meal replacement with added vitamins and nutrients, you can get the vitamin and mineral blend available in chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, toasted coconut, and mocha from 310.

310 Organic Shake Flavors

Eight flavors are listed on the website. There is chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, chocolate mint, mocha, salted caramel, toasted coconut, and unflavored. Reviews on the website raved about the flavors. With an overall rating of 4.9, we can see that most customers loved the shakes’ flavor and taste. Hundreds of reviews are posted on the website. Positive comments included “love this shake” and “great flavor!” Negative comments found included “good, but not as good as the chocolate” and “flavor not for me, and I can’t stand the taste of stevia.”

310 Organic Shakes Free from Soy, Gluten, Dairy

This product is excellent for people with allergies unless they are severe. The product is manufactured in a facility that processes wheat, soy, milk, peanut, tree nuts, eggs, fish, and shellfish ingredients. Cross-contamination may prohibit those with severe food allergies from consuming this product. Otherwise, they are excellent products for those with food sensitivities! The elimination of soy is essential to some because of the controversial nature of the presence of isoflavones, plant-derived compounds that mimic estrogen. Isoflavones can interfere with fertility and reproduction, according to some studies. Estrogenic substances are known to affect endocrine balance and may accelerate the age of puberty onset. Impaired fertility was seen in animal models exposed to soy isoflavones. Although these findings are inconclusive and controversial, some people would rather avoid soy.

310 Organic Shake Cost

The price for a serving of a 28 serving size container is $2.43. It may cost more if you add in the cost of the vitamin and mineral supplement. They have a refund policy if the product is opened or unopened as long as their procedure is followed. Shipping is non-refundable.

310 Organic Shake Summary

This is a fantastic shake with many great ingredients, including superfoods, prebiotics, soluble fibers, vegan protein, and is hypoallergenic- free from gluten, soy, and dairy. The only drawback is the vitamin and mineral content which should be 33% of the DV, and it doesn’t meet these criteria. Iron comes in as the highest mineral in the product at 28% of the DV.  The superfood blend adds some nutrients, but the amount cannot be analyzed because there is no label associated with the blend. Granted, one can purchase an additional vitamin and mineral blend at 90 calories a serving to add to the shake or use instead of the shake. Still, by itself, it does not meet the criteria of a meal replacement shake when it comes to vitamins and minerals. The company has responded that it meets the needs for these nutrients through the superfoods, but the validation of this could not be found on the label.

It is keto-friendly with only 2 grams of net carbs and is not too high in protein for a keto diet, which you want to keep moderate to stay keto-friendly. To stay on the keto track, add a tablespoon of MCT oil to your shake.

It should work admirably for a vegan pre-or post-workout on a weight loss diet when consumed as part of a balanced diet with adequate nutrients. Sufficient vitamins and minerals can be obtained from a balanced 1200 calorie diet for women and 1500 calories for men with appropriate servings from all food groups. Approximately 1/3 of Americans don’t get enough magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin E or Vitamin A in their diets, and 80% are low in Vitamin D. Furthermore, 9 out of 10 people are deficient in omega-3 fatty acids. 310 Organic Shake has a source of omega-3 fatty acids in its ingredient list. It also has some iron in it which many women do not get enough of in weight loss diets. Clients report losing weight with the shake in many reviews on the website.

All said and done; the revised 310 Organic Shake seems more than acceptable in flavor. Additionally, it has some intense, high-quality ingredients appropriate for a vegan protein supplement or weight-loss aid for individuals on a wide variety of diets interested in having a “clean” shake. The website even includes recipes to help you use this amazing product!
