Quest Protein Powder vs. 310 Nutrition Shake

If you’ve heard the buzz about Quest Protein Shake and 310 Shake, you might be wondering which healthy lifestyle product is best for you, and the answer is… it all depends on your goals. While one of these solutions makes an all-star meal replacement shake, one is better suited as a post-workout protein drink, or baking alternative.

If you’re looking for a healthy meal replacement to help you clean up your diet and provide fast, nutritious meals on-the-go, only one of these shakes will work… Read on to find out which one it is, or click on any of the links below to jump to a section in our overview:

Table of Contents: Price | Taste | Nutrition Facts | Calories | Sugar / Artificial Sweeteners | Protein | Fiber | Carbs & Net Carbs | Vitamins / Minerals / Superfoods | Company/Brand | Conclusion

Price

Quest Protein Powder

Quest Powders are extremely cheap – at $39.99 for a 32-serving canister on the Quest Nutrition website. This means it’s about $1.25 per shake serving – which is very low in the diet shake world. However, this may speak to the specific ingredients in the shake and whether or not they provide high-quality nutrition.

You can also join the Quest Subscribe & Save program to save 10% on your shake when you set up regularly-scheduled orders each month.

310 Shake

310 Shakes are also very economical, though they aren’t as cheap as Quest Protein Powders. The shake is $68.00 for a 28-serving container (or $2.43 per shake serving) – which is a great price for a high-quality meal replacement shake.

310 Nutrition also offers a Subscribe & Save program, where you can save 25% on your regularly-scheduled shake orders. In addition, they have a deals page where you can get discounted product bundles and starter kits that allow you to try individual product servings (and sample different flavors).

Bottom Line

Quest Protein Powders are inexpensive at only $1.25 per shake serving – but it may be due to cheaper ingredients and less overall benefits. 310 Shakes are also very economical at only $2.43 per shake serving.

Taste

Quest Protein Powder

Quest Protein Shakes come in tempting flavors including the current offerings of Vanilla, Cold Brew Coffee Latte, Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter. It’s nice that they offer a variety of different flavors to allow users to experiment with unique recipes and find ones they love.
When it comes to the flavor and texture of these shakes, Quest has lots of fans. Some of the most-promising commentary we found on taste in Quest Powder reviews include:

  • Quest is delish! It tastes like a sweet treat.
  • The shakes taste great and mix well by either shaking or using a blender.
  • The Cinnamon Crunch flavor tastes just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
  • I’m a Salted Caramel-oholic, and the taste of that shake flavor is divine!
  • Quest makes me excited to drink my protein shakes each day.

Of course, there were also some who didn’t enjoy Quest Shakes in the Quest Protein Powder Review page we explored and mentioned:

  • The shakes taste too sweet.
  • They have an “artificial taste”.
  • The texture is gritty and coats the tongue after drinking it.

Despite the negative comments, it’s clear most agree that Quest Protein Shakes are pretty tasty – and can also be used in different dessert-like Quest protein powder recipes (like Quest protein pancakes) to make the items healthier. Some flavors that were recipe favorites included Quest Vanilla protein powder and Quest Peanut Butter protein powder.

310 Shake

310 Shakes also come in indulgent and satisfying flavors including Vanilla, Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Gingerbread, Toasted Coconut, Strawberry, Vanilla Chai, Mocha and Chocolate Mint. And the reviews showed that people also love the taste of these shakes, for different reasons.

In the pile of 310 Shake Reviews we sorted through, here are some of the best comments we found on taste:

  • They have a great taste and I saw results within a week!
  • The Chocolate is so luscious and chocolaty and helps crush my cravings.
  • Salted Caramel is my favorite: it has just the right amount of sweetness, not too much.
  • These shakes aren’t gritty at all.
  • They’re super easy to mix in my Shaker Cup.

Bottom Line

Quest Reviews along with 310 Shake Reviews show that both of these shakes are well-loved in the taste department, each for different reasons.

Nutrition Facts

Quest Protein Powder

310 Shakes

310 Shakes Nutrition Facts Calories

Calories

When it comes to any type of diet or healthy lifestyle shake, you want it to have a low number of calories per serving – which is what you’ll find in both Quest Protein Powders and 310 Shakes. Both of these shakes have only 100 calories per shake serving!

Though you can drink both of these shakes with just a low-calorie beverage, you also may want to add in other healthy ingredients (including nut butters, avocado, Greek yogurt, fruits and veggies), all of which add additional calories – so having a low-calorie starting off point is ideal.

In addition, for weight loss/weight management, you absolutely want a low-calorie shake to help you meet your daily goals. In general, meal replacement shakes are a great way to keep track of how many calories you’re consuming per meal.

Bottom line

It’s best to choose a low-calorie shake option to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle, and both 310 Shakes and Quest Shakes offer great options with only 100 calories per serving.

Sugar / Artificial Sweeteners

Quest Protein Powder

We commend Quest Nutrition for having NO sugar in their shakes – making it one of the few sugar-free protein shake powder options. Sugar is one of the main causes of weight gain/obesity, and is a major disruptor of a clean, healthy diet. However, in place of sugar, Quest uses two things… Stevia (a natural sweetener which is a healthy choice) and Sucralose (an artificial sweetener we believe is an unhealthy choice).

Though many people view Sucralose, better known as Splenda, as a zero-calorie sugar alternative that can help you drop pounds, more and more research is showing just the opposite. Studies in both animals and humans have revealed that consuming these lab-created sweeteners can actually make you hungrier and cause you to eat more! (1)

In one study, animals on a diet including Sucralose began eating much more – which the experts discovered had to do with the relationship between sweetness and energy content in the brain; this relationship is out of balance when you eat artificial sweeteners. Basically, when you eat something sweet, the brain assumes it comes with calories (or energy), but since artificial sweeteners lack calories, your brain encourages you to find more.

The studies also revealed a link between artificial sweeteners and hyper-activity, insomnia and decreased sleep quality.

310 Shake

Just like Quest Powders, 310 Shakes have NO sugar, which is incredible, especially since they also don’t contain artificial sweeteners! Instead, 310 Shakes only use natural, plant-based Stevia for sweetness – making them much healthier than Quest Protein Powders.

Here’s why we like Stevia:

Helps Control Blood Sugar and Insulin Levels: Compared to sugar, having stevia before meals has been shown to result in far lower glucose and insulin levels; it even beat out an artificial sweetener (aspartame) in this regard. It can also help maintain sugar and insulin levels in diabetics. (2)

May Help Lower Blood Pressure: It’s also been shown in studies that Stevia can help lower blood sugar in cases where it’s elevated and a threat to health.

Bottom Line

Both Quest Protein Powders and 310 Shakes have NO sugar, but Quest Shakes use an artificial sweetener, Sucralose, while 310 Shakes use natural sugar alternative, Stevia.

Protein

Quest Protein Powder

Protein is one of the key elements of the best meal replacement shakes: filling you up and satisfying you until your next meal, boosting metabolism, and helping your body build lean muscle. That being said, you want your shake to have around 15-20g of protein per serving.

Quest Protein Powders are higher in protein, with 22g per serving. Shakes that have higher than 20 grams of protein per serving are usually best-suited for those trying to make more intense muscle gains and engage in a high level of physical activity.

Though the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein is about 10% of daily calories, you want to double it if you’re very active, trying to build more muscle or ignite weight loss. (3)

Therefore, having a higher amount of protein in a shake can definitely help you reach your weight/fitness goals. It’s also clear that Quest intends this shake to be a high-protein drink and not a meal replacement shake – meant to be consumed once a day after a workout. This is a key distinction between Quest Protein and 310 Shakes.

Quest Powders Contain Whey Protein Isolate and Micellar Casein

As for the type of protein in Quest Protein Powders, this also falls in line with what would be expected from a post-workout shake.

Whey Isolate is a type of whey with the highest amount of protein, and the least amount of fat and carbs. Though this results in it having less overall nutrients, it’s best for repairing muscle tissue. And micellar casein is a slow-releasing protein which provides your muscles with benefits over a longer time span. (4)

310 Shake

310 Nutrition, on the other hand, goes a completely different route with the protein in their shakes. First off, 310 Shakes offer well-balanced nutrition – including 15g of protein per serving – making them an ideal meal replacement shake you can enjoy up to twice a day in place of regular meals.

Second, the shakes stray away from animal-based proteins (although they do have one whey-based Vanilla Shake on their site); Instead, most of their shakes are plant-based. These types of totally vegetarian/vegan shakes are becoming more and more popular as people are realizing the immense health, weight loss and muscle-toning benefits of plant proteins. (5)

310 uses a special Tri-Plex™ Blend of the proteins in their formula to maximize absorption potential and increase overall effectiveness. All three proteins offer unique benefits:

Pea: Greatly increases satiety and supplies branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) for enhanced muscle-building and weight loss.

Hemp: Rich in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, it helps boost metabolism and keep the user full.

Brown rice: Offers a ton of nutrients for a small number of calories, and assists with muscle growth and recovery.

Bottom Line

Quest Protein Powders are high in protein at 22g per serving from whey protein isolate and micellar casein, making them ideal post-workout shakes. 310 Shakes contain 15g of plant-based proteins pea, brown rice and hemp – making them ideal weight management and healthy lifestyle meal replacement shakes.

Fiber

Fiber is another crucial element in diet shakes – and when it comes to a meal replacement shake, is absolutely essential. You need fiber to streamline digestive processes in the body, promote regularity and decrease bloating. Since you need a good amount of fiber in your diet (about 25-35g per day depending on age and sex), you want your shake to provide it.

Quest Protein Powders don’t qualify as meal replacement shakes in this regard – with less than one gram of fiber per shake serving. If you plan to use this shake as a meal replacement, you need to add a high-fiber ingredient in with it to make a smoothie. Or if you’re baking with this shake powder, make sure the recipe also includes fiber.

In contrast, 310 Shakes have 5g of fiber per shake serving – an ideal amount for a healthy meal; you want a meal replacement shake to have about 5-10g of fiber per serving.

Bottom Line

Quest Protein Powders have less than one gram of fiber per serving, making them unsuitable as a meal replacement shake unless a high fiber ingredient is added; 310 Shakes have an ideal amount of fiber at 5g per serving.

Carbs & Net Carbs

Many people are turning to low-carb dietary plans to help them eat healthier, lose weight and manage a healthy weight. In order for a protein shake to work for a low carb or keto diet, it needs to be low in both total carbs and net carbs (or the carbs that are left after you subtract the fiber from the total amount).

Both Quest and 310 Shakes qualify for use on a low-carb or keto diet. While 310 Shakes have 7g of total carbs and only 2g of net carbs, Quest Protein Powders have 3g of total carbs (and also 3g net carbs).

Bottom Line

Both Quest and 310 Shakes are great low-carb and keto diet shake options since they’re low in total carbs and net carbs.

Vitamins / Minerals / Superfoods

Quest Protein Powder

This category is another big indicator that you shouldn’t use Quest Protein Powder as a meal replacement shake: it has literally NO vitamins, and only a very small amount of a few minerals (calcium, iron, phosphorus and magnesium).

There are also no additional superfoods, digestive enzymes or probiotics. Even though the shake is meant more as a post-workout protein shake, it would be great if there were some more nutrients to help boost energy levels and support increased health.

310 Shake

310 Shakes, on the other hand, are rich in beneficial nutrients… Each shake provides 20 essential vitamins and minerals, most at 30% of the recommended daily value. This is important because you get invaluable doses of Vitamin A, C, D, E, calcium, iron, magnesium and more in every shake serving! If your goal is to have quick and healthy meals on-the-go, or to get your body in better shape, these nutrients are crucial.

And 310 doesn’t stop there… they also add a greens blend with amazing-for-you ingredients like organic spinach, broccoli, spirulina, kale and beet juice in each serving. Of course, you won’t have any idea that you’re consuming these superfoods because you can’t taste them –you’ll feel the benefits in your body!

Each 310 Shake also supplies essential “good” bacteria per serving called probiotics (supplying 1 billion CFU of probiotic strain, lactobacillus acidophilus, per serving). This particular probiotic is great for overall gut health, digestive processes, immune health and more.

The inclusion of all of these nutrients is one of the reasons that 310 Shake is our #1 rated meal replacement shake – it offers so much in terms of a healthy lifestyle and promoting overall wellness.

Bottom Line

While Quest Protein Shakes have absolutely NO vitamins and only a small amount of minerals, 310 Shakes provide an abundance of nutrients with 20 vitamins and minerals, a superfood greens blend, and 1 billion CFU of probiotics per serving.

The bottom line when it comes to 310 Shakes vs. Quest Protein Powders is that they’re two completely different products, created for different purposes. While you can absolutely use 310 Shakes as effective post-workout shakes or as healthy ingredient swaps in recipes, it’s also a high-quality, well-balanced, nutritious meal replacement shake.

In contrast, Quest Powders are high-protein, low-carb shakes that are ideal for more intense muscle-building and post workout recovery; but they do not meet the qualifications to be efficient meal replacement shakes.

Quest Protein Shakes have almost no fiber along with no vitamins, minerals, superfoods or probiotics! They also contain an artificial sweetener, Sucralose, which studies show may actually boost your appetite and cause you to eat more.

In contrast, 310 Shakes are the entire package: they have no sugar or artificial sweeteners, are full of healthy, plant-based proteins, good fiber, and an abundance of the vitamins, minerals, superfoods AND probiotics that you need. They’re also low in carbs therefore great for low-carb and keto diets.

At this point we think it’s clear why 310 Shake is our #1 rated weight loss shake – and it absolutely comes out on top in this diet shake comparison!
