The more processed a food is, the more unhealthy it becomes. Many food manufacturers process foods using trans fats, but then list the ingredients on the label in a way where you may not even notice. Here are some foods that have “hidden” trans fats and should be avoided. They include some frozen microwave dinners, doughnuts and baking mixes.
Eating trans fats can cause a buildup of bad cholesterol that may cause severe heart complications which can lead to disease or death. It’s important to check labels and avoid eating these fats when possible.
- A frozen dinner can sit in your freezer for a long time before you have to throw it out; that’s probably not a good sign
- Pre-made waffle and pancake mixes are super convenient but you should generally watch out for foods flavored artificially
- Every glazed doughnut from good old-fashioned Krispy Kreme contains trans fats; In particular, these doughnuts contain partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil
“The more processing a food goes through, the less healthy it is to eat.”
